On November 10, 2014 a transgender woman Sabi Beriani was murdered in Georgia, in Pekini street, 14.
Her body was found by rescue team after they put out a fire set up to her flat. She was injured with knife 9 times.
According to her mother, Sabi was first murdered and then the fire was set to the apartment in order to hide the evidence.
Levan Kochlashvili, detained for Sabi’s murder had also attacked another transgender woman, Bianka Shigurova and beaten her.
Kochlashvili was accused of attempted murder of Sabi Beriani, physical assault of Shigurova, and for damaging the property. Though, he was found guilty only for physically assaulting Shigurova, damaging property but not for killing Sabi Beriani. Kochlashvili was only sentence to 4 years in prison.
