According to Manchester Evening News The United Kingdom will send a gay asylum seeker back to his homeland Uganda. The asylum application was refused because ‘he should be safe if he is leading a discreet life in Uganda’.
Robert Kityo (35) fled Uganda after being ill treaded by the police for his homosexuality. Robert came to the UK five years ago and finished his studies there. He is a well-known LGBT activist.
While the Uk authorities say he could live there as long as he is leading a discreet life, activist argument that he would risk violence an even death if he will be send back to Uganda. In this country being gay is illegal.
Roberts legal team now warns officials that they will soon apply for judicial review. Also, there is an online petition to grant Robert’s asylum.
